Switzerland, We Love You!
Sorry for not posting sooner, but we are having an amazing time here in Switzerland. We have been in Interlaken since Sunday and have visited the Jungfrau, Rothorn, and Schilthorn mountains in the Alps and they have been absolutely amazing. We will post more about our first week when we get to Paris. Until then, here are some of our favorite pictures...
Also, no cell phone coverage so Happy Birthday to Michele. Enjoy your big 3-5.

It's Almost Time!!
We leave for our much anticipated European vacation tomorrow, and I'm super excited. I haven't packed a thing yet, but that's ok, I'm going and that's all that matters. Everything will get packed tonight...
Mike and I are taking our netbook with us and plan to blog the entire time we're there. We got a new camera as well, so we'll be sure to take tons of pictures each day and post the best ones here on FWC.
I'm really looking forward to reviewing all of the restaurants we eat at in Paris. I've already made reservations at Spring, where the head chef and owner is American Daniel Rose, Le Timbre, a fav spot of David Lebovitz, La Fontaine de Mars, where the Obama's dined, and Le Celedon, which is supposed to be great.
So much more to share, but time is a-tickin and I gotta run. Next time you hear from me, we'll be in Interlacken, Switzerland!

A Packing Nightmare!
Our big European vacation is almost upon us and I haven't even begun to pack. Ugh. Really, I would like to transport most of my wardrobe with me, but alas, that is not possible.
So, what to pack? I know that I need comfy shoes in Switzerland because we'll be spending time in the mountains and doing a little bit of hiking. I also know that it may be colder up in the mountains so I need to pack warmer clothes while were there. I think layering is the answer here....
So in Paris, it will be in the upper 70's to mid 80's, which I think is perfect weather for strolling and shopping, and eating! This also means that I can wear dresses, pants if it's chilly or raining, skirts, etc...the possibilities are endless. And, don't even get me started on the heels and sandals I want to take....you know I gotta keep up with the Parisian women!
The question is, how do I pack everything I need and not over pack? Is it possible? I know the answer is yes, it's just a difficult task.
Any packing tips or advice is much appreciated!

How Annoying Are: Irresponsible Dog Owners!
Let's kick this week off right with a new edition of "How Annoying Are..." So, I was on my way to work this morning and saw a well dressed woman walking her large dog in a small park. She was wearing very high heels and a short dress, which as all you female doggie owners know, makes it harder to squat down and pick up poop.
Ewww! I've seen people sit and eat on that lawn! Just nasty. A word to the wise. If you own a dog, do the right thing and scoop that poop! I know it's gross, but honestly it's the right thing to do. Mike and I ALWAYS pick up Bella's poop. It's our responsibility as dog owners and civil people.
Plus, no one likes to step in shit. Period.

Be Afraid, Be VERY Afraid!
I don't know about you guys, but I am really freaked out by these new "shoes" I've been seeing lately that look like feet. Yes, you heard me right. They look like feet, as in a person's bare feet except come in all types of colors like hot pink, red, blue, and black.
The first time I saw a guy wearing these, I was really grossed out. I was in the airport security line and he had to take these things off and it looked like he was peeling the skin off his foot. YUCK. The grossest part is that there's a place for each of your toes to go. They're like foot gloves.
Anyway, I googled them and found out that they're called the Vibram Five Fingers and that they're apparently supposed to be really good for your feet and your health. Well, I don't really care what they're good for cuz they're ugly as sin and I would never in a million years ever wear them.
I'm all about comfort especially because of my joint pain, but to wear something on my foot that looks like another foot is just too much.
What do you think?

My Vacation Strategy
So it's no secret that Mike and I love food and love to eat. I mean, seriously, what's better than a really good meal? Well, some things are I guess, but you know what I mean...
Anyway, in anticipation of our big upcoming trip to Switzerland and Paris, I am trying to be as healthy as possible in order to slim down so I can "bulk up" while I'm there. Do you see where I'm going with this? I'm trying to lose weight now so I can gain it all back by eating my way through every fromagerie and patisserie in existance!
Is this crazy of me? I know someone out there must have done this before. I think it makes perfect sense. Food is really important to me and I want to be able try EVERYTHING I see that looks appealing without feeling guilty about it.
I know they say that calories don't count when you're on vacation, but I am **living proof that they do indeed count and can make you FAT if you're not careful! So I'm sticking to my plan. Drop a few pounds before we leave and then if I gain them back, so be it!
Cheese, foie gras, eclairs, macarons, bread, wine....bon appetit to me!
**I learned this while vacationing in Germany where I incorporated a cheese course into every meal. Needless to say I could not button my pants toward the end of that trip.
